Nations FC delivered a strong and important performance on Sunday as they secured a 2–0 win over Basake Holy Stars at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in their Ghana Premier League Week 29 fixture.
The home side started the match with high intensity and made their dominance count early. They broke the deadlock in the 5th minute through Samuel Tetteh, who finished off a swift attacking move to give Nations a perfect start.
Just five minutes later, Tetteh struck again to complete a brilliant early brace. His quick double gave Nations full control of the game and left Basake Holy Stars struggling to recover.
Throughout the first half, Nations FC were the better side, keeping possession and creating more clear chances. Their pressing and attacking rhythm made it difficult for the visitors to settle or build meaningful attacks.
After the break, Basake Holy Stars tried to respond with more attacking intent. However, they still found it hard to break through a disciplined Nations defence.
Nations had the chance to extend their lead in the second half but missed a penalty in the 64th minute. Despite that setback, they remained calm and managed the game well until the final whistle without conceding.
The victory is a huge boost for Nations FC, as it lifts them out of the relegation zone at a crucial stage of the season.
For Basake Holy Stars, the defeat slows their momentum and leaves them needing improved performances to finish the season strongly.
With the campaign entering its final stretch, Nations FC will be aiming to build on this result as they continue their fight for top-flight survival.
