Ghana’s U17 women’s team, the Black Maidens, produced a commanding display to book their place in the next stage of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers with a resounding 6-0 win over Togo at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The convincing result sealed an 8-0 aggregate victory for Ghana, adding to their 2-0 success in the first leg away from home and highlighting their clear dominance over the two matches.

Right from kickoff, Ghana took control of the game and showed their attacking intent. Juliana Gyekye opened the scoring in the 13th minute, setting the tone for the hosts. Zeina Shani quickly followed up with two goals in rapid succession, putting the Black Maidens firmly in charge. Sekinatu Amadu added a fourth before halftime, giving Ghana a comfortable cushion heading into the break.

The momentum continued in the second half, with Ghana maintaining their pressure and control. Priscilla Mensah extended the lead in the 77th minute, while Seidatu Wahab added the final goal deep into stoppage time to complete the rout.

Togo found it difficult to cope with Ghana’s pace, intensity, and attacking quality, offering little resistance as the home side dominated from start to finish in front of their fans.

With this emphatic victory, Ghana advances to the second round of the qualifiers, where they will take on Liberia, who progressed without playing after Libya withdrew.

The next round is scheduled for May, with Ghana expected to host the first leg before travelling away for the return fixture later in the month.

This impressive performance sends a strong message about the Black Maidens’ ambitions as they continue their journey toward qualification for the U17 Women’s World Cup.
