Ghana’s U17 girls are set for their next challenge in the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, with Liberia standing between them and a place in the next stage of the competition.
The Black Maidens have re-entered the qualifiers with renewed determination after serving a two-year suspension over age eligibility issues, and they have wasted no time in proving their quality. Their opening round campaign was nothing short of dominant, as they brushed aside Togo with an 8-0 aggregate scoreline.
A 2-0 victory on the road in the first leg laid the foundation, before an emphatic 6-0 triumph at the Accra Sports Stadium sealed their progression in style, showcasing both their attacking strength and defensive discipline.
Their upcoming opponents, Liberia, advanced under different circumstances, progressing via a walkover after Libya withdrew from the competition.
The second-round fixture is slated for May, with Ghana expected to host the first leg between May 22 and 24, before travelling away for the return encounter between May 29 and 31.
With confidence high and momentum firmly on their side, the Black Maidens will be looking to carry their impressive form into the next round as they continue their pursuit of a place at the global tournament in Morocco.
