Ghanaian striker Prince Owusu delivered a match-winning performance as CF Montreal secured a narrow 1-0 victory over New York City FC in Round 10 of Major League Soccer.
The 29-year-old forward found the breakthrough in the 18th minute at Stade Saputo, calmly finishing off an assist from Matthew Longstaff to hand the home side an early advantage.
Owusu’s impact was evident throughout the game, earning him a solid performance rating before he was substituted in the 75th minute for Daniel Ríos.
Despite NYCFC dominating possession with 64% and creating more chances, Montreal showed resilience to hold on to their slim lead.The Ghanaian forward has been in outstanding form this season, recording six goals and four assists in nine appearances.
His contributions have played a key role in Montreal’s recent run of victories, including three consecutive wins over their New York rivals.Looking ahead, Montreal will travel to face Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on May 2, as they aim to continue their impressive campaign.
