Charles Kwabla Akonnor, head coach of Gor Mahia, has guided his side to the top of the Kenyan Premier League table after Matchday 29.
The former Ghana coach has steered his team to 61 points, opening a six-point gap ahead of second-placed AFC Leopards, who trail on 55 points with just five matches left in the season.
Gor Mahia’s impressive run has been largely credited to a well-structured technical setup dominated by Ghanaian expertise. Akonnor is supported by Bismark Kobi Mensah, assistant coach Ben Owu, who handles goalkeepers, and video analyst Joshua Boafo.
The team’s consistency, tactical discipline, and strong backroom coordination have played a crucial role in their rise to the summit, putting them in a commanding position as the title race enters its final stretch.
With only a handful of matches remaining, Akonnor and his technical team are now focused on maintaining momentum and securing the title, which would mark a significant achievement for the Ghanaian coach on the international stage.
