Accra Hearts of Oak SC have confirmed that their team bus was involved in a minor road accident on Saturday, May 16, 2026, while travelling to honour their Ghana Premier League Matchday 33 fixture against FC Samartex 1996 in Samraboi.
The incident occurred during the team’s journey after a tricycle reportedly collided with the Hearts of Oak bus while attempting to cross the road, briefly causing concern among supporters and members of the football fraternity.
In an official statement, the club assured the public that all players and officials on board the bus were unharmed.
“On our way to Samraboi to honour our Matchday 33 fixture against Samartex, our team bus was involved in a minor incident after being hit by a tricycle while crossing,” the club stated.
Hearts of Oak also confirmed that a few roadside victims affected by the incident were rushed to the hospital at Wassa Simpa for medical attention.
“A few roadside victims affected by the incident were taken to the hospital at Wassa Simpa, where they received treatment and have been discharged,” the statement added.
The Phobians are preparing for a crucial away fixture against Samartex as they aim to finish the 2025/26 campaign strongly with only two matches remaining.
Following confirmation that all players and club officials escaped without injury, the highly anticipated Ghana Premier League clash at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex is expected to proceed as scheduled on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
