Dreams FC boosted their hopes of securing a top-four finish after an entertaining 3–1 victory over Bibiani GoldStars in the Ghana Premier League at the Tuba Astro Turf on Sunday.
The result dealt a major blow to GoldStars’ title ambitions, with the visitors finishing the match with nine men after a dramatic and ill-tempered contest in the capital.
Dreams started brightly and took the lead in the 16th minute through Suraj Seidu, who finished calmly after a well-worked attacking move to give the “Still Believe” side an early advantage.
The hosts controlled large spells of the first half and went into the break with their narrow lead intact despite sustained pressure from the title challengers.
GoldStars, however, returned from halftime with intent and drew level in the 62nd minute through Samuel Atta Kumi, who produced a composed finish to bring the visitors back into the contest.
But Dreams responded almost immediately. Just two minutes later, Jonathan Nemorden restored the home side’s lead with a clinical strike to swing momentum firmly back in their favour.
The game grew increasingly tense as frustrations boiled over, and GoldStars suffered a major setback in the 70th minute when Richard Kotey was sent off, reducing them to ten men.
Dreams made their numerical advantage count and sealed the win in the 84th minute when Seidu struck again to complete his brace.
Tempers flared in stoppage time as Kelvin Oppong and Bright Boakye were also shown red cards, leaving GoldStars to finish the match with nine men.
The victory strengthens Dreams FC’s push for a top-four finish, while GoldStars’ defeat could have serious consequences in the tight title race.
