The Black Stars will depart for Kansas City at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, closing out a three-week base in Rhode Island that saw Ghana face Panama, England, and Croatia as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana’s time in New England served as the team’s final preparation and group-stage hub before Friday’s decisive Round of 32 clash against Colombia at Kansas City Stadium. With a Round of 16 ticket on the line, the Black Stars leave Providence looking to carry momentum into the knockout phase.
“We are grateful to Rhode Island for hosting us,” said Black Stars management Wednesday.
“Our sincere thanks go to the Rhode Island Sheriff’s Department and the Providence Security Team for their professionalism and selfless service throughout our stay. We also felt the incredible support of the Ghanaian community in New England, who made Providence feel like home.”
The team arrived in Rhode Island on June 11 after preparatory camps in Cardiff and Virginia. While based at Providence by Hilton and training at Bryant University, Ghana played two high-profile matches in the region: after the opening match against Panama in Toronto – a marquee fixture with England, and a group-stage test versus Croatia.
Now we turn our attention to Kansas City and Colombia.
Ghana enters Friday’s match with its knockout hopes still alive. A win against Colombia would secure passage to the Round of 16 for the first time since 2010.
