Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has challenged the Black Stars to become more clinical in front of goal as they gear up for a crucial Round of 32 clash against Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars progressed to the knockout stage after finishing third in Group L, following a 1-0 victory over Panama, a hard-fought goalless draw with England, and a narrow 2-1 defeat to Croatia.
Their reward is a first-ever competitive meeting with Colombia national football team, who topped Group K after collecting seven points from three unbeaten group-stage matches.
With the knockout rounds offering no room for recovery, Ayew has reminded his teammates that every opportunity must count if Ghana are to continue their World Cup journey.
“I have told the guys that we need to stay focused and do our best because the next game will be different. There is no second chance,” Ayew told Flashscore.com after Ghana’s defeat to Croatia.
The experienced forward believes Ghana must improve their finishing and maintain maximum concentration against a Colombian side that has impressed throughout the tournament.
Saturday’s encounter will mark the first competitive meeting between the two nations, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.
The Black Stars will be hoping to reach the last eight of the FIFA World Cup for the first time since their memorable run at the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
Kick-off is scheduled for 01:30 GMT on Saturday, July 4, as Ghana seek to write another chapter in their World Cup history.
