Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed his gratitude to Coventry City manager Frank Lampard and his teammates, insisting he is determined to repay the faith they have shown in him after helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old striker played a crucial role in Coventry City’s successful 2025/26 Championship campaign, contributing important goals and performances that helped the Sky Blues earn promotion to England’s top division.
Thomas-Asante enjoyed a breakthrough season under Lampard, who consistently praised the forward’s work rate, attitude and contribution to the team’s success.
The Ghana international says the confidence and encouragement he received from his manager and teammates played a major role in his development and eventual selection for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Although Ghana’s World Cup journey ended in the Round of 32 after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia, Thomas-Asante believes the support from Coventry helped him perform on the international stage.
The striker revealed that his club teammates regularly stayed in contact with him throughout the tournament, sending messages of encouragement before Ghana’s matches.
“Yeah, they’ve been in touch. When the games are coming, there’ll be a little flurry of messages, which I’m very grateful for,” Thomas-Asante told ESPN.
He added that Coventry’s collective effort was a major reason behind his rise, highlighting the importance of his teammates in helping him reach the highest level.
“It’s been such a successful year, and a lot of my teammates at club level are part of the reason why I’ve been able to come and play in this team and this squad.”
Thomas-Asante also revealed that he shared special moments with his Coventry teammates and hopes to reward their support with further success.
“I called one of my friends from the pitch after the last game just to let him be there as well, but there’ll be nothing better than to bring home some extra silverware for them.”
The forward, who provided an assist in Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama at the World Cup, will now prepare for Coventry’s first Premier League season in years.
The Sky Blues face a difficult opening fixture away to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, with Thomas-Asante expected to play a key role as Lampard’s side begin their challenge among English football’s elite.
