Ghanaian winger Prince Ampem produced a match-winning display as Shanghai Port fought back to defeat Wuhan Three Towns 3-2 in the Chinese Super League.
The attacker scored twice in a four-minute spell during the second half to complete a dramatic comeback victory for Kevin Muscat’s side and secure three important points on the road.
Wuhan Three Towns made a fast start at the Wuhan Sports Center Stadium, taking the lead just three minutes into the game through Jhonder Cadiz.
Shanghai Port struggled to break down their opponents before the break and went into halftime trailing by a goal.
However, the visitors responded strongly after the restart, with Zhen Wei restoring parity in the 50th minute before Ampem took control of the contest.
The Ghanaian forward put Shanghai Port ahead in the 55th minute before doubling the advantage just four minutes later, finishing off an assist from Oscar Melendo to complete a stunning turnaround.
Wuhan reduced the deficit in the 75th minute through Antoine Leautey, but Shanghai Port held firm during the closing stages, including six minutes of stoppage time, to claim the victory.
Ampem’s outstanding contribution earned him the Man of the Match award from Sofascore, with the winger receiving an 8.2 rating and 73 percent of fan votes.
