Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey is reportedly on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab on a one-year contract.
Thomas Partey has arrived in Riyadh to complete the final stages of the transfer, including a mandatory medical examination before signing the deal.
The 33-year-old is expected to move to Al Shabab as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Spanish club Villarreal, where he played during the 2025/26 season.
Partey previously featured for Atletico Madrid and Arsenal, making 130 appearances and scoring nine goals during his time with the English Premier League club.
The experienced midfielder spent the 2025/26 campaign at Villarreal, making 25 appearances across all competitions.
Partey remains an important member of the Ghana national team and featured in three matches for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His proposed move to Saudi Arabia is expected to keep him active at club level ahead of Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, which is scheduled to begin in September.
The midfielder is also expected to provide leadership and experience as Ghana seeks to return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing the previous tournament.
