Ghanaian defender David Oduro has joined French club FC Annecy as he takes the next step in his European football career following his departure from FC Barcelona.
The 20-year-old left-back has signed for the Haute-Savoie-based club after spending two years with Barcelona, where he continued his development with the reserve team.
Oduro began his professional career at Accra Lions and broke into the club’s senior side during the 2022/23 season. He quickly became an important player in the Ghana Premier League, making 50 appearances and scoring once.
His performances at club level also earned him international recognition. Oduro has represented Ghana on nine occasions, including eight appearances for the country’s youth teams and one senior international cap.
On August 30, 2024, he joined Barcelona on a three-year contract, becoming the first Ghanaian player to move directly from Ghana to the Spanish giants.
During the 2025/26 campaign, Oduro made 23 appearances for Barcelona’s reserve side, scoring one goal and providing an assist.
The left-back is regarded for his pace, attacking qualities and ability to contribute from the flank. His speed allows him to beat opponents, combine effectively with teammates and provide width during attacking moves.
He will now look to continue his development at Annecy and establish himself in French football.
Oduro’s arrival is expected to strengthen Annecy’s defensive options as the club prepares for the new campaign, while the Ghanaian will be aiming to use the move as another platform to advance his young career.
