Asante Kotoko have completed the permanent signing of Moroccan goalkeeper Abdel Wadie Mourad as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper has arrived in Ghana and signed a permanent contract with the Porcupine Warriors after joining from Albanian club Basania FC.
Mourad’s move to Kotoko is a permanent transfer, despite earlier reports suggesting that the goalkeeper was in Ghana for a trial.
Standing at 1.93 metres, Mourad brings experience from top-flight football, having previously played for Moroccan club Chabab Mohammedia in the Botola Pro League.
During the 2024/25 season, he made 13 appearances for Chabab Mohammedia, accumulating 1,170 minutes and establishing himself as a regular option between the posts.
The goalkeeper is reportedly valued at around €130,000 and is represented by Mir Sport.
His arrival further strengthens Kotoko’s goalkeeping department, which has undergone notable changes during the current transfer window.
The Porcupine Warriors have also brought back former goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, while Mohammed Camara has left the club to join Ethiopian side Mechal.
Mourad’s signing is expected to intensify competition for the goalkeeping position as Kotoko prepare for the new Ghana Premier League campaign.
The Moroccan becomes one of the few players from his country to move into the Ghana Premier League, marking an important new chapter in his developing career.
His recruitment forms part of head coach Eric Tinkler’s squad rebuilding exercise, with Kotoko continuing to strengthen their playing personnel ahead of the new season.
