Ghanaian-Italian striker Caleb Ekuban has emerged as a potential target for Sampdoria, with the experienced forward currently available as a free agent.
The 32-year-old centre-forward became a free agent after leaving Genoa on 1 July 2026, ending a five-year association with the Serie A club.
Ekuban joined Genoa from Turkish side Trabzonspor in August 2021 for a reported €2.6 million and went on to make over 100 appearances in Italy’s top flight.
The attacker has recorded 108 Serie A appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists. During his time in Turkey, he also featured 83 times in the Süper Lig, registering 20 goals and 12 assists.
Born in Villafranca di Verona, Italy, Ekuban began his career in Italian football with clubs including Chievo Verona, Südtirol, Lumezzane and Renate before moving abroad.
He enjoyed a successful spell with Trabzonspor, winning the Turkish Cup in the 2019/20 season and the Turkish Super Cup in 2020/21. He also impressed in Europe, scoring four goals in six UEFA Europa League qualifying appearances.
A move to Sampdoria would represent a return to Italian football for Ekuban, who has experience in both Serie A and Serie B and could provide valuable leadership and attacking depth.
No agreement has been reached yet, but Sampdoria are reportedly considering the Ghana international as they look to strengthen their squad for their Serie B campaign.
