FC Samartex 1996 have started their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign on a strong note after beating Karela United 3-1 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
The former Ghanaian champions dominated key stages of the encounter and took the lead in the 39th minute through Edwin Kofi Asamoah, who put Samartex ahead before the break.
Samartex continued their strong performance after halftime and doubled their advantage six minutes into the second half when Isaac Afful found the back of the net.
The home side remained in control and added a third goal in the 71st minute through Meschack Sowah Adjetey, putting the game largely beyond Karela United’s reach.
Karela managed to pull one goal back five minutes from full time through Jonas Wisdom, but Samartex held firm to secure all three points.
The victory gives Samartex a positive start to the new campaign and extends their strong recent record against Karela United.
Samartex will next travel to face Aduana Stars, while Karela United will head to Tamale to take on Bechem United.
