Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has been included in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz has handed Ayew a place in the squad despite the forward making only limited appearances since joining English Championship side Sheffield United.
The experienced attacker remains an important figure for the Black Stars, with his leadership and international experience expected to play a key role as Ghana begins its campaign to qualify for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
Ayew’s inclusion comes alongside the return of Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku, who have both recovered from injuries that kept them out of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
However, midfielder Thomas Partey is a notable absentee from the squad due to injury concerns.
Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire on September 24 before hosting The Gambia on September 29 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars will then travel to Morocco for an international friendly against the Atlas Lions on October 4.
