Alexander Djiku has returned to the Black Stars squad after recovering from the injury that kept him out of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The Spartak Moscow defender is among the players selected by head coach Carlos Queiroz for Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
Djiku has regained his fitness and has been in strong form for his club, completing three consecutive 90-minute appearances ahead of the international break.
His return strengthens Ghana’s defensive options as the Black Stars begin their campaign to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The defender’s experience is expected to be valuable to the national team as Ghana prepares for the challenging qualifiers.
Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire on September 24 before hosting The Gambia on September 29 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars will later travel to Morocco for an international friendly against the Atlas Lions on October 4.
