French coach Patrice Beaumelle has reportedly submitted his application for the vacant Ghana Black Stars head coach position as the search for a new manager continues.
The experienced tactician is among several coaches expressing interest in taking charge of Ghana’s senior national team following the departure of Carlos Queiroz.
Beaumelle brings extensive experience in African football, having previously managed national teams including Côte d’Ivoire, Zambia and Angola.
The Frenchman was part of the Côte d’Ivoire technical team that guided the Elephants to victory at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations before later becoming the team’s head coach.
He also had managerial spells with Zambia and Angola, giving him significant knowledge of the African football landscape.
The Ghana Football Association has begun the process of identifying a new coach as the Black Stars prepare for the next phase of their international schedule.
Ghana missed out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, increasing pressure on the new appointment to help rebuild confidence and improve results.
His interest in the Ghana job comes after Carlos Queiroz’s departure following Ghana’s disappointing September international window.
The Black Stars lost 2-0 to Cote d’Ivoire before suffering a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia in the opening two matches of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have since constituted a five-member search committee to identify and recommend a new head coach for the senior national team.
Former GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe chairs the committee, with Anthony Baffoe, Agbesi Dzakpasu, former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and high-performance specialist Faisal Chibsah completing the panel.
