National Sports Authority (NSA) Deputy Director General Veronica Commey has urged sports federations in Ghana to meet the necessary funding requirements and maintain good standing to improve their chances of securing financial support for their activities.
Commey stressed the importance of proper administration, accountability and compliance with established requirements, noting that federations must put their affairs in order to attract funding and sustain their operations.
Her call comes at a time when sports federations require adequate financial resources to organise competitions, develop athletes, support national teams and prepare for international assignments.
She encouraged the federations to prioritise sound management practices and ensure they fulfil their obligations, explaining that maintaining good standing is an important consideration when seeking financial assistance.
Funding remains a major concern for several sporting disciplines in Ghana, with federations often requiring financial support to implement development programmes, organise domestic competitions and prepare athletes for international events.
Commey’s message highlights the need for sports administrators to demonstrate transparency and responsibility in managing their organisations. Meeting the relevant requirements can help federations position themselves to benefit from available funding opportunities and build confidence among potential sponsors and supporting institutions.
She further emphasised the importance of effective administration in ensuring that resources allocated to sports development are used appropriately and contribute to the growth of their respective disciplines.
Commey’s appeal is expected to encourage federations to strengthen their internal structures and address any outstanding requirements that could affect their access to financial assistance.
The development also underscores the importance of cooperation between sports authorities and federations in building a more sustainable sporting environment in Ghana, where effective governance and responsible financial management can support athlete development and improve the country’s competitiveness at international competitions.
