Former Ghana international Inaki Williams continued his impressive goalscoring record against Real Sociedad after helping Athletic Bilbao secure a 2-1 victory in Sunday’s Basque derby in the Spanish La Liga.
The Athletic Bilbao captain opened the scoring at the Estadio San Mames in the 14th minute, calmly finishing a brilliant assist from his younger brother Nico Williams to give the hosts an early lead.
Real Sociedad responded in the 30th minute through Croatian midfielder Luka Sucic, who restored parity to make it 1-1 and put the visitors back into contention.
However, Athletic Bilbao regained the advantage just before the break when winger Alex Berenguer converted a penalty to put the home side ahead. The hosts maintained their lead in the second half to secure all three points in the fiercely contested regional encounter.
