Former Ghana international Malik Jabir has described as needless the Porcupine Warriors decision to compete in next season’s CAF Champions League.
According to the club legend, Kotoko should have rejected the offer to play in Africa next season considering the fact that they have not been active since the suspension of football activities in Ghana.
The Porcupine Warriors were given the nod to represent the country in CAF’s flagship inter-club competition following the cancellation of the 2019/2020 season.
The Porcupine Warriors confirmed their participation on Monday, September 7.
This was because the Kumas-based played in the competition last season after winning the NC Tier One competition.
Kotoko must start the registration of players for the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League which will be closed on 20 October 2020.
“I hope they (The board) think about it before taking this decision. I don’t know how Kotoko will feel about participating in this year’s Africa competition because we’ve not played a competitive league in Ghana for the past three (3) years,” Jabir told OTEC FM in Kumasi.
“It’s okay if their motive is to go and try than to win the cup. We must prepare well for it, if not then we should forget” He added.
Kotoko have not played in any game since March when the Ghana Premier league was canceled due to the covid19 pandemic.
