Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp expressed his elation following his team’s inaugural 1-0 triumph against Sheffield United in the opening match of the Premier League season on Saturday.
In a closely fought contest, the Eagles clinched a hard-fought victory, with fellow countryman Jordan Ayew making a significant contribution by providing a crucial assist that set up Odsonne Édouard to net the solitary goal of the match.
Shortly after the halftime interval, Édouard found the back of the net for Palace, capitalizing on Ayew’s pinpoint cross. Despite Sheffield United’s efforts, they were unable to mount a comeback.
Taking to Instagram, Schlupp shared his thoughts on the match, stating, “A good win to start the new season.”
Palace asserted dominance in terms of possession, with Édouard having another goal disallowed and Osula’s attempt hitting the side-netting. Palace maintained control and successfully thwarted Sheffield United’s attempts to equalize.
With the opening victory under their belts, Palace aims to build on this momentum and strive for a higher finish in the league standings compared to the previous season, despite their relatively lower standing under the management of Roy Hodgson.
