Rio Ave forward, Abdul Aziz Yakubu, has been snubbed in the Black Stars’ 55-man provisional squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Aziz has had a stunning start to the season and has been a strong contributor to Rio Ave’s successes this season.
The 23-year-old has scored five goals in 11 league games in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, the fifth-best in the top flight while also providing three assists.
The forward has formed a formidable partnership with Emmanuel Boateng in Rio Ave’s attack, complementing each other quite well.
Aziz was hoping to be named in Ghana’s provisional squad but Otto Addo did not name him as part of his squad.
Aziz has scored more goals than Felix Afena-Gyan, Kwasi Wriedt, Caleb Ekuban and Antoine Semenyo and has the same number of league goals as Inaki Williams.
