Former Asante Kotoko forward, Abdul Fatawu Safiu, has successfully undergone knee surgery following a ligament tear that derailed his anticipated return to the club earlier this year.
Safiu’s contract with Asante Kotoko was terminated in February after the club discovered the injury during training. Team manager Ohene Brenya noticed the player limping, prompting further medical examinations that confirmed the ligament damage. The injury required immediate surgical intervention, forcing Safiu to step away from competitive football.
Now, eight months later, Safiu has successfully completed the surgery and is working towards a full recovery, with hopes of returning to action next year.
During his previous stint with Asante Kotoko, Safiu made a significant impact, scoring 13 goals in 16 appearances and receiving accolades such as the best player and top scorer in the Normalization Committee’s Special Competition.
