Ghanaian midfielder Abu Francis put in a stellar performance for Cercle Brugge in their 1-1 draw against St.Truiden in the Belgian First Division.
Francis played the full 90 minutes and showcased his attacking ability with a crucial assist.
Cercle Brugge began the match strong, controlling early possession, but St.Truiden’s solid defense limited clear-cut chances. In the 53rd minute, Francis unlocked the opposition’s defense with a brilliant assist, setting up Ahoueke Denkey to give Cercle Brugge the lead.
However, St.Truiden responded fiercely, and their efforts were rewarded in the 76th minute when Shinji Okazaki equalized, forcing both sides to share the points.
Fellow Ghanaian Lawrence Agyekum also featured, playing a solid first half before being substituted at halftime. The result leaves Cercle Brugge hovering in the relegation zone, as they now focus on their Europa Conference League clash with St. Gallen on October 3.
Cercle Brugge holds a historical record of 13 wins, 4 losses, and 4 draws against St.Truiden, but this latest result adds to their recent struggles.
