Ghanaian midfielder Abu Francis played a key role in Cercle Brugge’s commanding 3-0 victory against Olympic de Charleroi in the Round of 32 of the Belgian Cup on October 31.
Cercle Brugge took control early in the match, with Erick Nunes opening the scoring in the 23rd minute after skillfully maneuvering past two defenders and placing a precise shot into the top corner.
Abu Francis extended the lead in the 35th minute, finding the back of the net with a powerful shot from the edge of the box following a well-timed assist from Kévin Denkey. This goal marked Francis’s first of the cup campaign.
Cercle Brugge’s defense remained disciplined throughout the second half, effectively limiting Olympic de Charleroi’s scoring opportunities. The victory was capped off in the 87th minute when Gary Magnée tapped in a rebound, solidifying the 3-0 win.
Looking ahead, Cercle Brugge will face Sporting Charleroi in league play on November 3, aiming to build on this momentum as they sit 15th in the league table with 12 points.
