Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has praised Asante Kotoko for their performance in the Ghana Premier League, despite their recent 2-1 defeat to Legon Cities.
This loss marked Kotoko’s first of the season and took place at the University of Ghana Stadium, where Legon Cities celebrated their first win after a difficult start to the campaign.
Having attended the match, Agyemang-Badu acknowledged that while the defeat was disappointing, Kotoko’s overall play this season has been commendable. “I’ve watched a lot of games, and Kotoko have been playing well. Unfortunately, they lost today, but one loss in eight games isn’t bad; they still have a lot of room for improvement,” he stated.
The former U-20 World Cup winner attributed the loss to injuries within the squad but expressed optimism that the return of key players will bolster their performance. “Kotoko have injuries, but some players are recovering; they’ll get better,” he added.
Legon Cities’ victory was particularly significant as it ended Kotoko’s four-season dominance over them. The match was a crucial moment for the Royals, who had previously struggled with five losses and two draws earlier in the season.
While the defeat may serve as a wake-up call for Kotoko, Agyemang-Badu remains confident in their ability to bounce back.
