Blessing Asuman Dankwa, the midfielder for Accra Lions, showed an impressive performance in their recent match against Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League. The game took place on Saturday afternoon at the WAFA Park in Sogakope.
Dankwa played a crucial role in Accra Lions’ 5-0 victory, scoring two goals that contributed to their commanding win. Before this match, Accra Lions were struggling, sitting in 14th place with 21 points, desperate to climb away from the relegation zone. In contrast, Berekum Chelsea held a more comfortable 6th place position with 30 points, aiming to secure their spot in the league’s top half.
Right from the start, Accra Lions took control of the game, dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Their efforts paid off in the 31st minute when Dominic Amponsah found the net, giving them the lead. Just before halftime, Ali Mohammed extended their advantage with a goal in the 43rd minute.
Although Berekum Chelsea attempted to rally in the second half, Accra Lions’ solid defense prevented any comeback. Dankwa further secured the victory for his team with two quick goals in the 57th and 65th minutes.
Both teams made substitutions in the 69th minute, but it was Accra Lions who continued to dominate. Abdul-Shakun Abubakari scored again in the 89th minute, sealing the comprehensive win and earning his team three crucial points.
Despite the heavy loss, Samuel Boadu and his Berekum Chelsea team remain hopeful of bouncing back in their next match against Aduana Stars on Matchday 21 at the Golden City Park.
