Former Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi has predicted the favourite countries for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The competition is set to kick start on Sunday, January 9, in Cameroon with teams almost wrapping up their preparations.
For the second time in the competition’s history, 24 countries will participate in the continental showpiece in Cameroon and former CAF vice president, Nyantakyi has named the teams he feel could be favourites to lift the trophy.
“Mali has invested massively in the development of players at the grassroots level. GMG Academy for instance has been doing great work at this. This has positioned Mali as one of the favourites for the tournament. Senegal, Morocco, and Algeria are the countries who can excel at the tournament,” he told Onua TV.
While not mentioning Ghana’s name in his list, Nayantakyi has however urged Ghanaians to throw their support behind the Black Stars, who play their first game on Monday.
