Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo has been ruled out of the AFCON 2023 following an ankle injury.
In a pre-match conference ahead of the weekend’s Brentfords’ Premier League fixture against Aston Villa, Thomas Frank confirmed Bryan Mbeumo will have an ankle operation that will rule him out for 12 weeks, meaning he will miss the Africa Cup of Nations:
“Bryan is a positive guy. Everyone faces setbacks and it’s tough to take, but he will come back stronger. I’m convinced he’ll come back stronger,” said Frank.
The Cameroonian forward has scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in 15 starts for Brentford this Premier League season.
Mbeumo,24, was expected to form a fearsome partnership with Vincent Aboubakar in Cameroon’s attack in the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
