Ghana’s Black Stars suffered defeat at home to Pelancras Negras of Angola in the first game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday evening.
The Black Stars started the game very well against their opponents but failed to create chances in the early stages of the the game.
Ghana had just one short on target in the opening 45 minutes of the match despite four shorts on target to Angola’s five in the game.
The game produced little excitement in the first half as both teams failed to capitalize on the few openings of the match.
Ghana started the second half better and had a chance to score early from a free-kick but failed to find the back of the net.
The home team played better in the second half of the match but the away team remained resolute and gave Ghana few changes.
Abdul Mumin failed to clear his lines and gifted Milson a golden opportunity to score the only goal of the match as the Angolans won 1-0 on the road.
Ghana takes on Niger on Monday in the next round of qualifiers.
