Ghana’s Black Stars pipped the Palancas Negras of Angola in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday evening.

The four-time Africa Cup of Nations winners started the game very brilliantly and stamped their authority.

Ghana created a lot of good openings in the first half of the match with so many defense splitting passes from captain Thomas Teye Partey.

The Angolans on the break looked dangerous and had some good chances infront of goal but failed to make it count on both occasions.

Kamaldeen Sulemana was a delight to watch in the first half of the match together with Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey.

The first half ended goalless.

In the second half of the match, Ghana continued from where they left off in the first half of the match and controlled the game very well.

Ghana probed further in the second half after Chris Hughton made three changes bringing on Abdul Samed Salis, Antoine Semenyo and and Joseph Paintsil for Jordan Ayew, Edmund Addo and Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Semenyo came close on two occasions but fluffed his lines and failed to convert the half chances he had.

At the death of the match, Paintsil was brought down at the edge of the box which resulted in a free-kick to the Stars.

Kudus swung in a pinpoint cross which was poorly dealt with by the Angolans which they got punished for failing to clear their lines.

AFC Bournemouth striker, Antoine Semenyo pounced on the lose ball and smashed it home to win all three points for the Stars very late in the game as it ended 1 – 0 to Ghana.
