Felix Afena-Gyan highlighted his first season with US Cremonese as challenging due to the difficulties he faced.
Afena-Gyan joined the team prior to the start of the 2022/23 season, leaving AS Roma after a good season.
The 20-year-old joined Cremomese, who had recently been promoted to Serie A, in search of game time but found it in short supply.
“It was a very tough season for me because I couldn’t meet my targets. How I planned to face [the season], I couldn’t make it,” he said in an interview with Saddick Adams.
The 2022–23 season saw Afena-Gyan make just seven league starts and another 16 as a substitute, averaging 35 minutes per game as the club suffered relegation back to Serie B.
He did not score or provide an assist in the league, but he was crucial to his team’s success in the Coppa Italia with two goals in five games.
