Ghana international Felix Afena-Gyan played a decisive role as Amedspor secured a dramatic 2-2 draw against Ümraniyespor in their Week 35 Turkish Lig 1 clash at the Diyarbakır Stadyumu.

Introduced in the 60th minute, the 23-year-old forward made an immediate impact, injecting energy into Amedspor’s attack as they fought to avoid defeat on home soil.

With his team trailing deep into stoppage time, Afena-Gyan delivered a crucial moment of quality, setting up Mbaye Diagne for the equaliser that salvaged a point for the hosts.

The visitors had taken an early lead through Batuhan Çelik in the 22nd minute, before Mehmet Yeşil quickly restored parity for Amedspor to send the game into halftime level at 1-1.

After the restart, Ümraniyespor regained the advantage through Jurgen Bardhi in the 69th minute, putting the visitors in control.

However, Amedspor refused to give up and were rewarded late on, with Afena-Gyan’s assist sparking celebrations as they snatched a valuable point in the closing moments.

After the match, Afena-Gyan expressed confidence in his team’s promotion push, taking to social media to rally supporters.

“The battle is the Lord’s, we keep our heads up guys, we can do it,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Since joining Amedspor on loan, the former AS Roma forward has recorded five goals and six assists in 32 appearances, establishing himself as a key figure in the club’s promotion chase.

Amedspor currently sit second in the Turkish Lig 1 standings with 72 points from 35 matches, six points behind leaders Erzurumspor FK, as the race for promotion intensifies.
