The Reds were scheduled to face Al-Merrikh in their first game of the tournament last weekend, but the game had to be moved due to them participating in the Club World Cup.
Clark is disappointed not to have faced Al Ahly yet, whom, in his opinion, are coached by the best African manager, Pitso Mosimane.
“I’m looking forward to facing Al Ahly. I know that I will face a strong opponent, who is the African champion and the third best team in the world, and they have the best coach in Africa,” the former Newcastle United midfielder told ONTime Sport TV.
“We are in a closed camp at the moment, we played some friendly matches, and I’m currently following the Egyptian League. I also followed Egypt’s wonderful journey in the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Our group is very strong and I’m excited to play the matches. I faced Al Ahly in the last edition of the Champions League. They are a distinguished club and are African champions. I watched their matches in the Club World Cup, the last of which was against Brazil’s Palmeiras,” he concluded.
