Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco won their third CAF Champions League title on Monday after beating masters of the competition – Al Ahly – on Monday.
WAC of Morocco – playing in front of a strong home crowd at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca – won the epic final by 2-0 thanks to a superb brace by Zouhair El Moutaraji.
Moutaraji opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a clever strike from outside the box that beat goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy. He scored his second i the 48th minute from a rebound.
WAC have now surpassed Asante Kotoko of Ghana, Enyimba of Nigeria, JS Kabylie and ES Setif from Algeria on the list of clubs with most Champions League titles won.
WAC joins Hafia Conakry, Canon Yaounde, Raja Casablanca as the clubs with three honors won.
