According to the Athletic, Mohammed Kudus, a Ghanaian international, will command a transfer fee of almost £40 million from Ajax in the summer.
Kudus is under contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena until 2025, but he turned down a one-year extension in April and has informed the Dutch club of his decision to leave when the transfer market starts on June 10.
The precedent suggests that if valuable team members are unable to be renewed, Ajax will sell rather than let them enter the final 24 months of their contracts. The sum for signing the Ghana international is anticipated to be approximately £40 million ($49.8 million), though this may be influenced by which teams are interested in him.
Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are among those interested in Kudus, and while other prospects may be higher on their transfer lists right now, the 22-year-old is highly regarded.
