Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey has emerged as a late transfer target for Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam ahead of the January window’s closure.
The Brighton & Hove Albion wing-back has just six months remaining on his current contract, making him eligible to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with another club before the summer.
Despite having a solid campaign, Lamptey has struggled for consistent game time under Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler, prompting him to assess his options. Reports from England suggest Ajax are preparing a £1.5 million bid for the Ghana international.
Lamptey played the full 90 minutes at left-back in Brighton’s humiliating 7-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.
The 24-year-old has featured in 10 Premier League games this season, registering two goals and two assists for the Seagulls.
