Bristol City have the chance to sign a former fan favourite Albert Adomah in the summer of 2024 and he’s offered to play for free.

Bristol City have been given an opportunity to reunite with a former fan favourite after Albert Adomah sent a message to supporters. The 35-year-old played for Bristol City between July 2010 and August 2013 before moving to Middlesbrough and is well-received amongst the Robins fan base.

During his time at City, he made 136 appearances, making 29 goals, and scoring 17. He was named Player of the Year in his debut campaign at the club, but could not keep them from being relegated to League One in 2012/13.

Appearing on the One Stream in Bristol podcast in an episode that discusses his time at the club, he said: “I’ve loved the love you have shown me every time I have come back to Ashton Gate, I appreciate that. Hopefully, one day who knows, I’m still playing and I might come back to Bristol City.

“Mr. Lansdown the chairman, if he can give me another crack even if it is a short spell. When I’m out of contract with QPR I might be a free agent then so you don’t have to pay for me.

“I’ll play for free if you want. I’m just trying to sell myself here. You might see me again at Ashton Gate playing against you guys and I can’t wait for the home game as well when we play against you guys.”

Adomah is currently at City’s Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers but is out of contract at the end of next season when he will be 36-years-old. He has played 21 times this season, but only six of those have been starts. The Ghana winger did return to Bristol earlier this season but was an unused substitute as QPR won 2-1 in October.

After leaving City for Middlesbrough in 2013, he helped them to promotion to the Premier League after finishing runners-up in 2016. Adomah would only get two appearances in England’s top-flight before he was sold to Aston Villa, where he spent three years.

He later joined Nottingham Forest on a two-year deal but six months into his contract he joined Severnside rivals Cardiff City on loan. Adomah was recalled but did not play for Forest again, and was allowed to join QPR.

Bristol City travel to Loftus Road to face QPR on the final day of the Championship on May 6, in Adomah’s next opportunity to face his former club.
