Alexander Djiku has called on Ghana to improve its approach after the Black Stars suffered defeat to Ivory Coast in their latest international assignment.
The experienced defender believes Ghana must learn from the performance and make the necessary corrections ahead of the team’s next game against The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.
Djiku admitted that the Black Stars did not produce the level of performance they wanted and stressed the need for the team to improve its overall approach going forward.
According to the defender, Ghana must remain focused on the areas that need improvement while preparing for the next challenge.
“We have to improve our approach,” Djiku said after the match.
The defender also commented on the penalty decision that went against Ghana during the game, although he was careful not to make the referee the main focus of his assessment.
“I don’t like talking about referees but he killed the game with that foul,” Djiku stated, expressing his frustration over the decision.
His comments reflect Ghana’s disappointment with the outcome, particularly over the penalty call which he felt had a major influence on the flow of the contest.
However, Djiku’s main message was centred on improvement, with the defender urging the Black Stars to look beyond the setback and concentrate on producing a better performance in their next fixture.
Ghana now has the opportunity to respond against The Gambia on Tuesday, with the Black Stars expected to make adjustments and show greater effectiveness in their approach.
Djiku’s call for improvement also comes as Ghana prepares for another important match, where a stronger collective performance will be required from the team.
