Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku expressed his joy after Fenerbahce’s victory over Antalyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday, marking a return to winning form.
Following their defeat to Galatasaray in the previous week’s derby, Djiku was named in the starting lineup for the Antalyaspor clash. The Black Stars centre-back put in a solid first-half performance before being substituted at halftime for Filip Kostic.
Fenerbahce secured the win with two second-half goals, including a strike from Dusan Tadic and an own goal by Antalyaspor’s Thalisson, ensuring the team took home all three points.
After the match, Djiku shared his excitement on social media, posting, “Plus three points. Clean sheet. Next is Europa League.”
Fenerbahce is now set to face FC Twente in the Europa League on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the Netherlands.
Djiku, who missed the Black Stars’ games against Angola and Niger due to injury, could return to the national team in October for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan.
