Ghanaian international Alexander Djiku has praised Fenerbahçe’s resilience and determination following their thrilling 3-2 victory over Göztepe in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday.
The Black Stars defender played the entire match and delivered a solid performance as his side secured an important home win.
After the game, the former Strasbourg player took to Instagram to express his delight and commend the team’s effort.
“Big character. Well done team. Thanks again for your support until the end,” he wrote, celebrating the hard-fought victory.
Göztepe took an early lead in the 25th minute when Juan opened the scoring, giving the visitors the advantage going into halftime.
However, Fenerbahçe came out stronger in the second half, with Moroccan international Youssef En-Nesyri equalizing shortly after the restart. En-Nesyri then doubled the lead in the 53rd minute, courtesy of an assist from Filip Kostic.
Just two minutes later, Oguz Aydin scored, extending Fenerbahçe’s lead and effectively sealing the win. Although Tanzania international Novatus Miroshi managed to pull one back for Göztepe in the 82nd minute, it wasn’t enough to prevent the hosts from claiming victory.
Djiku, 30, has been a standout performer for Fenerbahçe under the guidance of seasoned coach José Mourinho. He has made 25 appearances for the club across all competitions this season, further solidifying his reputation as a dependable defender.
