Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has been named Stade Rennais’ Player of the Month for September, beating out teammates Ludovic Blas and Arnaud Kalimuendo in a fan vote.
Seidu takes over the accolade from August winner Amine Gouiri, as he continues to shine in his debut season with the French club.
Seidu’s impressive form saw him feature in all four of Rennes’ matches in September. The Ghanaian defender ranks among the club’s top players for blocks and interceptions, placing 3rd in interceptions made. He is also among the top 20 players in Ligue 1 for ground duels won, showcasing his defensive versatility.
Since joining from Clermont Foot in January, Seidu has quickly established himself as a key player for Rennes, making six Ligue 1 appearances this season.
The 24-year-old JMG Academy graduate will be expected to start Rennes’ next fixture against AS Monaco before the international break in October.
