Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah is ready to build a 20,000 seater capacity stadium for the club if 100,000 fans are willing to donate $100 each.
In pursuing this agenda, the club is set to announce a new payment platform in the upcoming days where supporters can contribute $100 towards the construction of the new stadium.
The move has been necessitated after the CEO of the club Nana Yaw Amponsah pledged that he will build a new stadium for the team in the next 18 months if he gets 100,000 supporters to contribute 100 dollars each.
“I will build a stadium for Asante Kotoko within 18 months if I should get 100,000 committed supporters to contribute $100 each.
“Anyone who pays $100 for the Asante Kotoko stadium project, will have his or her name and date of birth on the block forever.”
Following his pronouncement on Oyerepa TV on Monday, February 28, many Kotoko faithful have responded positively to the move with some even making pledges.
Notable amongst them, is former Kotoko striker, Kwame Poku who pledged to support the project with 300 dollars
The USM Algers striker made the pledge through broadcast journalist, Esther Abankwa on Angel floodlight sports on Angel FM on Monday 28 February.
The President of the Ghana Supporters Union, Abraham Boakye aka One Man who was also on the same show contributed his quota to the construction of the new stadium where he donated 100 dollars instantly.
Meanwhile, Majority Chief whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh upon hearing the initiative has commended Nana Yaw Amponsah for the innovation and pledged his full support.
Since Asante Kotoko’s establishment 86 years ago they have been using the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the Jackson Park.
