In a thrilling final on Friday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Accra, Ampem Darkoa Ladies emerged as the champions of the Ghana Women’s Premier League for the second year in a row.
They secured their title after a penalty shootout victory over Hasaacas Ladies.
The intense match concluded with a 1-1 draw at the end of regular time, leading to extra time. Doris Boaduwaa struck first for Hasaacas Ladies in the 60th minute, but Ampem Darkoa’s Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah equalized in the 84th minute, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
With both teams unable to break the deadlock during extra time, the outcome was determined by a penalty shootout.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies demonstrated great composure and accuracy, converting all five of their penalties. Hasaacas Ladies, on the other hand, missed one crucial penalty, which was successfully converted by Success Ameyaa.
This triumph marks Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ consecutive victory in the Ghana Women’s Premier League.
Their exceptional performance grants them the privilege of representing Ghana in the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League season.
