Heart of Lions’ return to the Ghana Premier League next season will be accompanied by a renovation project at the Kpando Park.
The team earned qualification to the top-tier division after their relegation in 2015. However, the stadium currently lacks seating and other essential features required to pass the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) club licensing venue inspection.
Randy Abbey, the President of the 2022/23 DOL Zone 3 winners, has confirmed that discussions are underway with the National Sports Authority (NSA) to commence the renovation project.
“We are in talks with the National Sports Authority (NSA), and we have made significant progress in reaching an agreement,” said Dr. Randy Abbey, as quoted by GBCGhanaOnline.com.
“We are optimistic that, despite the short timeframe, we will be able to undertake the necessary measures to ensure that this venue meets the standards required for the Premier League,” he added.
In the meantime, Heart of Lions will play their remaining home games at the Ho Sports Stadium, which is already under pressure due to the increased demand.
