Antoine Semenyo has drawn level with Michael Essien on the list of all-time highest-scoring Ghanaian players in the Premier League after netting the winner in AFC Bournemouth’s 1-0 victory over Fulham on Monday night.
The 25-year-old wasted no time at the Vitality Stadium, opening the scoring just 53 seconds into the match with a composed low finish—his eighth Premier League goal of the season.
The strike ended Bournemouth’s six-game winless streak and took Semenyo’s overall Premier League goal tally to 17, tying him with former Chelsea star Michael Essien for fifth place among Ghana’s top scorers in the competition.
Semenyo now trails only Andre Ayew (21 goals), Jeffrey Schlupp (22), Tony Yeboah (24), and Jordan Ayew (41) on the all-time list.
His goal against Fulham also matched his best-ever return in a single Premier League season, equalling the eight goals he scored across all competitions in previous campaigns.
The victory lifted Bournemouth to eighth in the Premier League table, just six points behind seventh-placed Aston Villa in the hunt for European qualification.
Semenyo will be aiming to continue his scoring form when the Cherries face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
