Lionel Messi swapped his footballer clothes for those of an actor to play football in the Argentine television series “The Protectors”.

He even participated in his first shoot this week.

Lionel Messi (34) has given himself an unexpected break in his rich football career. The PSG striker will indeed play in the Argentine series “Los Protectores” (The Protectors).

He will make an appearance in the first episode of season 2, which will be broadcast from 2023 on the Star+ channel. Filming recently wrapped with scenes filmed in Buenos Aires and Paris.

Messi shot in Paris

The TV series was a great success in the first season. It tells the story of three representatives of footballers embodied by the actors Adrián Suar, Andrés Parra and Gustavo Bermúdez. The latter will have to “face an unexpected threat to their business”, says the Argentine press about the scenario for this second season.

“It really surprised us all, not only his human quality, but also his acting,” said Colombian Andrés Parra, known for playing notorious drug trafficker Pablo Escobar in the series El Patrón del Mal.

The Star+ channel unveiled a brief behind-the-scenes footage of the filming where we see Messi in action in a building in the French capital, which he joined last summer after leaving FC Barcelona.

For his first season in France, Messi scored 11 goals and delivered 15 assists in all competitions. He has just had a great week with the Argentine selection with a clear victory against Italy (3-0) in the Finalissima and a quintuple against Estonia in a friendly match.
