Arsenal could use struggling Eddie Nketiah in a swap deal for £45m target

Arsenal reportedly prepared to use striker Eddie Nketiah in a swap deal to land exciting £45million summer transfer target, according to multiple reports in the UK.

Speculation surrounds the future of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah as the summer transfer window approaches, with the striker’s lack of game time sparking interest from several clubs, including Leicester City.

Despite showcasing his abilities on multiple occasions, the 24-year-old has found opportunities limited under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, with his last start dating back to the turn of the year. This has reignited discussions about his potential departure from The Emirates Stadium, particularly with the club facing Financial Fair Play constraints.

Recent reports suggest Leicester City, alongside Crystal Palace and Brentford, have expressed interest in acquiring the services of the England international. Arsenal, meanwhile, eyes a £45 million transfer target of their own in Leicester’s Dewsbury-Hall.

Dewsbury-Hall, 25, has been pivotal in Leicester’s quest for promotion, contributing to 25 goals with 14 strikes and 11 assists. Despite Leicester’s financial losses, which have prompted talks of cashing in on the midfielder, his market value remains high.

A potential swap deal between the two clubs involving Nketiah and Dewsbury-Hall has been mooted, with Arsenal hoping to sweeten the deal with the inclusion of the striker. However, negotiations are expected to be complex, as Leicester may resist parting with their key asset, especially if they secure promotion to the Premier League.

While Nketiah could be an attractive prospect for Leicester as they seek to bolster their attacking options, convincing the player to join a newly-promoted side might pose a challenge. Likewise, Arsenal’s willingness to sell hinges on securing a favourable deal, which could involve a player-plus-cash arrangement.

Despite reported interest in Dewsbury-Hall, Arsenal are expected to be in the transfer market for reinforcements and an upgrade on Nketiah is on the cards of Edu and Arteta. Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyökeres, Benjamin Sesko and other names are linked with a move to the Emirates next season.
